Outdoor Track & Field Championship Central
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Conference teams will descend upon Tampa, Fla. this weekend for The American's inaugural Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted by USF. Eight men's teams and ten women's teams will compete for titles over a packed schedule with three days of events.
Men's Outlook
The UConn men will seek to defend the title they claimed at the Indoor Track and Field Championships back on March 1 at the Armory in NYC. In the outdoor season, the Huskies took second place in their Dog Fight Meet against Albany, took two first place titles at the Specs Town Invitational, and had strong performances at the Larry Ellis Invitational and Penn Relays.
Louisville and Houston, the second and third place teams at the indoor championships, will also be major contenders to watch. The Cardinals have set a number of school and meet records in a strong spring campaign, and enter the conference championships fresh off 14 top-five finishes at the UK Relays. The Cougars have also had a strong outdoor season, highlighted by a second place finish against a tough field at the Texas Invitational, and feature an extremely strong crew of sprinters that dominate the conference leaderboards in those events.
