The 15th annual Space Coast Jamboree kicked of the 2010 Florida Pre cross-country season today in Cocoa Beach under partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low 80's for the first race at 8 AM on a course that was fairly solid compared to last years sprinkler logged fields.

Under the direction of Meet Coordinater Jake Henderson and timers from Steepletiming.com, over 350 athletes competed in 3 separate FAT, age grouped events.

First up was the Girls 5K which was dominated by Junior Shelby Davidson from Cocoa Beach High Track Club (TC).  Shelby shattered the course record of 19:13, previously held by Satellite alumni and Florida collegian, Kaitlin Shiver.  Shelby's previous 5K PR of 19:35 went by the wayside as well as she cruised to victory after a great summer of conditioning in 18:28.  Shelby's splits were roughly 5:45, 6:05 and 5:55.

Cocoa Beach TC's runners were dominat as well, with 9 runners in the top 15.  Savannah Bradley from Cocoa Beach TC was second in 20:22 and Danielle Lusk from Rockledge TC was third in 20:46.

In the Boy's race, Timber Creek  (Orlando) TC senior Nathan Nichols emerged victorious in 17:00. A large pack of runners came through the mile in roughly 5:10 with Nathan being able to gap the pack during the second mile.  His 2 mile split of 10:54 easily gave him the space he needed for an easy victory.  His fellow team members also placed in the top three with Zac McClenahan going 17:27 and Micheal Spegal going 17:36 for a 1-2-3- victory celebration.
