Season review: indoor track 2014

March 11, 2014

Hi everyone,

My first track season with the Oregon Track Club Elite just ended. On the plus side, I ran two PRs (4:04, then 4:03) in the mile. But unfortunately, I did not break the 4-minute barrier this season nor did I qualify for the USATF indoor national meet. After thinking about this season for the last few weeks, I can't be disappointed with the results. I'm so thankful to have had a productive season - one in which I competed well and made a jump in fitness. Plus, I have been (for the most part) injury-free for half a year... That's a huge sign for me that things are clicking thus far.

Six months ago, I moved across the country - from Philadelphia to Eugene - to start my life as a professional runner. The move was a bit intimidating (yet exciting!), and coming from a small Division III collegiate program I knew that there would be a big adjustment period to running well, let along racing well. However, the last several months have gone exceptionally well with the team and I'm looking forward to what I can do this outdoor season.

Having six months go by without any major setbacks due to injury is such a blessing. From June 2012 to June 2013, I dealt with my fair share of injuries and sicknesses - and frankly, I don't know how I even managed to race during my senior year in college... So, finding a smooth weekly routine with OTC Elite has been a dream come true so far.

Life is going well in Oregon right now and I'm looking forward to competing in some new places this outdoor season. The west coast has a large a chunk of the premier meets in the United States, so I'm looking forward to competing at those venues.

I'll keep you updated on my progress! Feel free to contact me with any questions!

Thanks for reading!
