Boyd Anderson takes on JDL Fast Track by Denise Spann for DyeStat Florida
Ft Lauderdale, FL -This past weekend was the NCRunners Holiday Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Many of the kids who participated in the meet were from North Carolina; others traveled from afar. Some athletes from the Boyd Anderson track team took the trip to North Carolina to see how well their preseason training has been going. Competing for the Plantation Heat, this meet is just a stepping stone for some underclassman athletes towards Jimmy Carnes Indoors in February, and for this year’s seniors, it’s practice for what will be their first real indoor season in college.
In the 300m Metayer placed 29th running a time of 44.60, while Sangster placed 40th running 46.33. For Metayer and Sangster this was their first time running these events at an indoor meet, and they did a pretty good job representing South Florida.
As for the highly anticipated freshman Daishon Spann, she ran the 55mh and the 1,000m run. In the 1,000m run, Spann placed 12th with a time of 3:15.17, and was the top freshman finisher in the field. In the 55mh, Spann placed 3rd in her heat just missing out on the final and placed 12th overall again with a time of 8.86.
