AVON PARK — With the blessing of the South Florida State College District Board of Trustees, Athletic Director Rick Hitt is developing a women’s cross country team that should be ready to run by fall 2015. By unanimously approving the program on April 23, college trustees gave Hitt the green light to hire a women’s cross country coach and assistant coach. Hitt hopes to have these key staff on board by August. This will give the coaches one year to recruit as many as 12 runners, possibly from a pool of local talent that is being cultivated at the high school level. “The five high schools in our service district widely participate in the sport,” Hitt said. “We think the Lady Panthers cross country team will be well received at SFSC.” Read the full article at: www.newssun.com
