Middlesex senior Garrett O’Toole took third at the Prince-ton Elite meet, where he was the only noncollegiate athlete.

As positive first impressions go, Garrett O’Toole could not have done any better.

Last Friday, the Middlesex School senior clocked this year’s fastest outdoor time in the 1,500 meters by a US high school runner.

The 5-foot-11, 130-pound Weston resident, the only noncollegiate athlete competing in the Princeton Elite Meet in New Jersey, registered a time of 3:45.55 to best the next fastest time among his peers by 6 seconds, with his future teammates and coaches at Princeton looking on.
